CAMPO AL SALICE "GARGANEGA" 2020 750 ML
Corte Quaiara is located in San Giorgio in Salici (Sona), in the province of Verona, between Lake Garda and the hills of Valpolicella. Corte Quaiara’s wines are unconventional and full of personality, just like their producer, Giovanni Montresor. After an initial collaboration with a large Veronese winery, Giovanni revived Corte Quaiara with the goal of creating wines that capture the aromas of his land, allowing one to savor every nuance. Some of the grape varieties used, such as Pinot Noir and Golden Traminer, are unusual for the region where the winery is located, but they thrive in an ideal environment.
Campo al Salice from Corte Quaiara is made from 100% Garganega grapes, grown on the morainic hills of Sona, on limestone soils of Wurmian origin that impart minerality and savory notes. They are harvested by hand in mid-October. After gentle pressing of the destemmed grapes, the wine ferments for 10–12 days at a controlled temperature of 16°C and ages for nearly a year in stainless steel and another 8 months in the bottle. Garganega is a typical grape variety widespread throughout the Verona region, and this wine takes its name from the field where the 40-year-old vineyard is located.
In the glass, it has a pale straw-yellow color; on the nose, it offers a bouquet of wildflowers, linden blossom, orange blossom, and white fruit; on the palate, it is fresh, mineral, and savory, with a citrusy finish.
Campo al Salice from Corte Quaiara pairs perfectly with fish, white meats, and light pasta dishes.
