COFANETTO ANNAMARIA CLEMENTI R.S.1980 750 ML
Free shippingANNAMARIA CLEMENTI R.S. 1980 embodies a dream that unfolds in all its uniqueness. The expertise of André Dubois, cellar master at Ca’ del Bosco until 1990, gave rise to Ca’ del Bosco’s first vintage. From the 1980 vintage, the idea took shape to “forget” a few bottles sur pointe and continue aging them for over 40 years, thus creating a unique, inimitable Franciacorta.
GRAPE VARIETIES
The white grape vines planted in Franciacorta at that time were supplied by nurseries under the generic name “Pinot,” and this name was also listed on the bottle labels as “Franciacorta Pinot.”
Later, in the late 1980s, it was discovered that the vineyards planted with the “Pinot” variety were, ampelographically speaking, actually composed, in a random mix, of approximately 35% Pinot Bianco and 65% Chardonnay.
We can therefore conclude that the blend of the “Cuvée Annamaria Clementi R.S. 1980,” created at the time with 40% Pinot Noir base wines and 60% “Pinot” white grape base wines, was in fact composed of 40% Pinot Noir, 21% Pinot Bianco, and 39% Chardonnay.
VINEYARDS OF ORIGIN
A selection of grapes from the 7 vineyards in the “Canelle” area, located in the vicinity of the “Ca’ del Bosco” winery.
1980 HARVEST
Early spring was cool and relatively dry, with budbreak occurring under decidedly dry conditions.
From May onward, however, weather conditions changed completely, with rain dominating the scene until the first ten days of July. More than 200 mm of rain fell between May and June. The vines were severely affected by these conditions, resulting in a loss of fruit set. The cool temperatures and rain during flowering caused the loss of some of the flower buds and led to limited fruit set, with the clusters becoming sparse.
Starting in the second week of July, true summer weather set in with temperatures around 30°C, and there was no more rain until September. These final conditions favored and significantly enhanced the excellent quality of the grapes for this vintage.
The harvest began in the first week of September with the “Pinot” grapes perfectly healthy and ripe. For this Riserva, the grapes were harvested on September 11 and 12.
